Film poster analysis - The exorcist
This poster is for a horror film called the exorcist the poster shows a man stating in the walk way of a house with no clear indication where he is or where abouts the location is in the poster. having one man in the poster makes it clear that he is one of the main characters. the main actor that is seen on the front is called max von sydow who plays lankester merrin.
The lighting of this poster is used for greta effect as the setting is set in a very dark low toned mood which links to the genre and gives the poster more of a sinister feel. the light coming out of the window and shining down onto the man makes it audience think that hes the man to help or hes coming to the rescue. the use of the shadows also tells the audince that the setting is a night this is effective as most stereotypical horror films are set in the dark or at night.
The use of the title is used for great effect as the main title is in bold capital letters which helps the lettering stand out to the audince. the words at the top of the poster are very effective as it reads scariest movie of all time, this is a very powerful and bold statement which would entice and entregree the target audince and horror fans in. the use of the long shot of the character in the poster allows tfor the setting to be shown which takes up all of the poster.
